Re: Now Playing
I've been listening to Murray Gold's score from the final episode of Dr Who. More lovely choir music, and thanks to the way BBC HD broadcasts, all the foreground noise can be filtered out just leaving the music.
I'm also rather addicted to a song called 'They Forgive' by a woman named Kerli.

Vampire Weekend - Contra. More of a grower than their very immediate debut, but after a couple listens I like it just as much. Great pop.

Manners is probably my favorite album of 2009 tbh. Certainly one of them. And good choice on the songs, Little Secrets manages to put me in a good mood no matter what situation I'm in and Sleepyhead was essentailly my anthem for last summer!

Re: Now Playing
I am listening to... the Bayonetta soundtrack.
Go ahead, call me a weeaboo
Also just listened to The Flaming Lips cover of Dark Side of the Moon. Maybe I need to give it another listen, but it didn't do much for me.
The distorted vocals during Great Gig in the Sky were hardly necessary imo

I can't see The Flaming Lips doing either of those songs justice...In fact, very few bands can pull of a Pink Floyd cover well.
What's the Bayonetta soundtrack like? I like the music that kicks in while you're fighting XD

Re: Now Playing
I quite liked the Flaming Lips cover, but I definitely agree that the Great Gig In The Sky is definitely the weakest point of the album. The original song conveyed so much emotion using only the power of sound and that's just lost amid heavily distorted banshee screaming from Peaches, who isn't exactly what you'd call a vocalist who can emotively wrap her voice around the track's legacy.

Listening to the Moon soundtrack. Spooky ambient stuff.

Local Natives - Gorilla Manor
One of the best albums I've heard in a long time, and it shoots right up into my top 10 favorites ever. Their sound could be compared to Arcade Fire, with a bit of Vampire Weekend, and vocal harmonies on par with Fleet Foxes. In fact, they're like an up-to-date Fleet Foxes, with some more...'modern' lyrics and guitar sounds. The percussion throughout the album is incredible to put it mildly. There is also a raw sound to the album, it's far from over-produced. It nearly feels live at certain points. I can literally listen to the album right through on repeat and never tire of it. They're playing Dublin in March for €13 so I'm there. The album will make you want to cry, flick on your lighter, dance, and make you want to light up a fat one to mellow out with. All in one playthrough. Outstanding album, and definitely a band to watch...

Not too fond of Contra, if I'm honest. There's a few good tracks but its not as good as their debut at all.

I like how you can hear the singer's accent in The Dykeenies. They're pretty good alright. Listened to 'Clean Up Your Eyes'. It sounds familiar. They remind me of General Fiasco. But not as happy sounding...Cheers moozo, I'll check out a bit more of em.

Re: Now Playing
New Lil Wayne album 'Rebirth'.
Easily some of the worst music I have heard in a long time. Unquestionably on of the most disappointing albums of all time. After Tha Carter III, I was expecting something different. This is just auto-tuned shit, with guitar playing so mushed up with effects and played so terribly that it sounds like The Edge playing with no hands.
It's barely even worth a verdict. I'm disgusted.

Also see 'Stitches'. And I know exactly what you mean about them sounding familiar.
