That's because you create your own narrative and express yourself through the mechanics. It knows cut scenes are bullshit, and the buddy system provides more of a "plot" as such. I love the fact it has very little authored story content, it's more of a premise.

Re: Now Playing...
Just spent 2 hours in Banjo, trying to build a contraption that would allow me to put as many balls as possibl through a football goal.
Vue several experiments with the detach, ideas with helicopters, massive detachable nets..its just, SO brilliant! Im so enthused games enable us to be creative in ways like this... im so happy!

Ok Banjo is going very cheap everywhere now, and judging by the general opinion of it here, it's worth it. Dangly, you have actually got me very excited about my pay day on Friday....but Mass Effect 2 is out so soon too! Screw it...I'll be finished Bayonetta by Friday anyway.

Pfft. Bayonetta is made by the creator of DMC. If anything it's the first true sequel.
Im gonna go against the grain and say Banjo is one of the worst games i've ever played.

Meh, articstic differences and all that.
I watched my neighbour play Bayonetta and was uninterested, it just all loked very familiar. I think Banjo is astonishingly good!

It's hard to make your own story around basically doing the same missions over and over again.gdf wrote:Jammer wrote:Don't expect anything in terms of a story.Kaptain Kaviar wrote:far cry 2 feels like the start of a very slow paced 4 hour movie without soul

Well you spend all your time making a cool vehicle, and then what do you do with it? The most boring missions you could possibly imagine, although I should have been prepared for this coming from Rare. Vehicle controls are pretty crap too iirc.

Re: Now Playing...
Just finished chapter 11 of Bayonetta there. Man this game is so sweet. I also only found out in chapter 10 that I had unlocked the katana and those 2 mad arm weapon things...I thought you had to save up and buy them from the Gates of Hell, but they have made my battles considerably easier since then!
Hopefully I'll finish this off tomorrow or Friday.
Anyone tried it on hard?

Re: Now Playing...
It's funny that people keep bad mouthing DMC4, because in some parts of Bayonetta, I felt like I had went back 2 years and was playing DMC4 again. A lot of the boss fights feel the same, and the look of the surroundings are very similar. The combat system is a lot better, though, just the way you had to defeat some of the bosses felt far too similar.
EDGE's sticker on the front "10/10 - Legendary" is a little antagonizing.
Anyway, finished it a few hours ago, didn't realise it was that long, could have been a little shorter. Not sure how to score it, I think it could probably sway an 8.
Started my Hard playthrough - already died at the beginning. Ha! But up to Chapter II now. Got myself some new outfits... it was either spend most of my coins on new items that could help a lot in battle, or buy the skimpiest outfit. I think I went with the right choice.

Re: Now Playing...
Typical. I have only one mission between me and the rest of Borderlands and I can't do it.
I'm so bad at FPS games, especially ones where boss characters are protected by an infinite spawning amount of minions to get in your way. Urgh.
Bayonetta should be here tomorrow though.

Re: Now Playing...
Far Cry 2, because I bought it on 360.
I also bought Bully for PC, been waiting for a low price and Gamestation had it for £3.50 or something. Can't wait to get stuck into that.

It wasn't, so instead I'm driving myself insane with Professor Layton and Pandora's Box.
I also have an urge to play Final Fantasy VIII again. I haven't replayed it for a very long time. Might see if I can track a cheap copy down.

Lost another 2 hours in Banjo.
I spent the majority of my time hunting for Jiggy Manipulating...handle things.... i dunno! Climbed right to the top of the L.O.G factory!
Its amazing. Its fun. Its beautiful. Its...im very very tempted to say its my game of the Gen, but i wont for fear of pointing and mocking, but yeah, definitely top 5.

My top five, possibly but maybe not quite in order.
Far Cry 2
Noby Noby Boy
Grand Theft Auto IV
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Demon's Souls
So don't worry, you're not the only one.

Fantastic, and im abut 3 hours into FC2 right now, beginning to understand why its held in such high regard. Its very difficult though, its such a hostile setting for a videogame.

Re: Now Playing...
Mass Effect should come in the post on the 19th, maybe tomorrow. I did buy it second hand from my nearby blockbusters but the disc just about let me complete level one so I had to return it.
Gotta say, speech wise I prefer Dragon Ages direct translation of responses to Mass Effect's approximation of the answer you chose.
E.g: The option is "I don't like the sound of that"
Shepard speech = "I'm not sure if that's the best idea"
