Post by GearsCT Wed Jul 29, 2009 3:48 pm

Due to me and my gf deciding to now go to the cinema every Saturday it got me thinking, what films are coming out soon which we could watch and there's loads, so I decided to make this thread just to discuss what films are coming out and why you want to see them.

Go on then start talking Razz

lol I knew that would get poked at slightly lol

Can we just get into the real reason this thread was made lol.

Next film we're seeing is the Proposal, I think Ryan Reynolds is an extremely funny actor and looking forwards to seeing it. Also on the plans of things to see is Orphan, The Timetravelers Wife, GI Joe

Next film we're seeing is the Proposal (like you're going to do to your "gf"), I think Ryan Reynolds is an extremely funny actor and looking forwards to seeing it. Also on the plans of things to see is Orphan (what'll happen when you both tragically die in a car crash), The Timetravelers Wife (you aren't the sort I'd expect to go on cross-dimensional journeys), GI Joe (I read that GF Joe)

Yes, nothing to with your girlfriend lol!

FTW Tongue out

Time Travellers Wife looks appalling tbh, if you've read the novel, the film looks like soppy trash you'd only go to with a date.

Oh, right.

Erm, G.I Joe looks like providing the dumb fun that Transformers was supposed to, ad is out soonish.

August brings District 9 which looks really interesting, very good in fact, im seeing that as soon as. Inglourious Basterds is also out that month, which is, you know, Tarantino's new film, so il be checking that definitely.

Oh, while i remember, AntiChrist is out now too, i dunno much about it but Casey seems to think it'l be alright.

There are LOADS of good looking films between now and X-Mas actually, Jennifers Body, Shutter Island, Toy Story (Re-Release in 3D!), Zombieland, The Road (Which is look VERY good), A Christmas Carol( With added GARY OLDMAN!), Twilight:New Moon ( Take the girl to see this Gears, insta-win tbh Smile errrrm im pretty sure The Lovely Bones is out this year too, near christmas, and being a Peter Jackson flick is bound to be worth watching, im thinking Oscar for director is on the cards too... Guy Ritchies Sherlock Holmes, then, finally, my most anticipated film of the year, James Camerons Avatar. Its gonna change the world people.

I'm liking the look at Inglorious Bastards but I've never liked any other Tarantino films so I'm not really too sure about it.

As for the Twilight reference Dangly, she loves the books but hates the films, so its insta-win for me haha

Oh and I'm actually looking forwards to the new Disney Pixar film, UP

The fuck? I would kick your arse if I could, you know since I'm a Tarantino fanboy and Pulp Fiction is the best thing ever.

Inglorious Basterds (Refer to other part of post) and District 9 are looking like the best films of the year imo

Umm,

Moon
Antichrist
Shutter Island
District 9
The Road
Inglorious Basterds (even though I usually find Tarantino overrated)
Avatar
Some trippy one that I read about that is meant to be like some lucid drugs trip, forget the title

Umm,
Loads more will come, can't think of many off the top of my head.

Looks like The Day After Tomorrow 2, therefore it has no hope whatsoever. Emmerich looks set to butcher a fairly interesting phenonemon once again, and single-handedly turn the sheepish automatons into 2012 paranoid zealots.

TDAT, or TWAT as i'll now refer to it as, challenged my willing suspension of disbelief to a point where I actually was expecting Godzilla to just wander into the frame. The rest was wild and wacky, why not just throw a mega-lizard in to balance things a little?

You don't have to be a film buff to realise that The Day After Tomorrow is everything wrong with Hollywood and the American film industry nowadays.

As for 2012, we'll see, but my anticipation-meter is probably at a 1/5 at the mo.

By the way, the trippy film I mentioned is the upcoming Gaspar Noe movie, Enter The Void. It's one to keep a close eye on for a totally surreal art-house mindfuck for sure.

I can watch brainless entertainment now and again, but films that have no depth or subtext whatsoever don't stay with me for very long.
