Heavy Rain
Nearly here! Definitely destined to split audiences with its interactive movie approach. I personally think it looks fantastic. That said, I am a bit of a Quantic Dream fanboy; the PC version of Omikron is amongst the most criminally underrated games I've ever played (probably years ahead of its time), and Fahrenheit was brilliant despite the final third. I'm hoping HR won't slip into similar narrative trouble towards the end.
4.2GB install though... ouch!

Re: Heavy Rain
I'm very seriously considering buying a PS3 to play on this. O stealing my brothers, either way...
Farenheit was stupendous, and this just looks better and better. BUT. Farenheit started out as a murder mystery thing...and this is exactly what i want to see in HR. Like a videogame version of Seven. Its not what we're getting, so il be dissapointed, but still.

I've made my best effort not to watch any teasers other than the pre-E309 stuff. Can't wait for the big day!

Re: Heavy Rain
I can't say I share the same level of enthusiasm for this, but then I didn't play Fahrenheit.
The animations in some of the trailers look awfully wooden, as does the voice acting.
(spoilers)
I think its great that they are trying to push boundaries and find new ways to tell stories in games though

I like the look of it but I won't be able to get it. I need money for other things which is a shame because it looks really interesting.
Re: Heavy Rain
The recent stuff they've shown looks like utter shit, yo.
Will buy with high - dented considerably, but still high - hopes.

To be honest, no one should get their hopes up. Trust me, this game will be hated by the masses.

I thought everyone was sort of jumping on the bandwagon? A lot of people liked Fahrenheit, but this is getting way more buzz.

Re: Heavy Rain
A lot of people won't 'get' Heavy Rain for sure. My expectations are sky high simply because it's a QD game, and it looks genuinely original.
It all comes down to whether you're in the 'extended QT event' camp or not. I think that's a very cynical way to look at such a fresh concept.
Can't wait, simply put. I actually cannot believe it's out this month.

Here is another video I found the other day as well (NSFW)

Re: Heavy Rain
HMV have the special edition for £40 last time I checked. Might be worth getting.
Just realised I can't get it. Don't have enough hard drive space

Re: Heavy Rain
Did anyone else buy the Sam's sexy dance video on the extras menu of Fahrenheit? I always laughed that at the end just as it's fading to black, it shows you her vag.
Here it is:
I have no doubt that David Cage will do the same with Heavy Rain.

Re: Heavy Rain
I played the demo and was really impressed by the first scene. A perfect blend of compelling narrative with involving gameplay.
There is a lot of mundane QTEs that feel completely unnecessary in the demo, but other than that, they are implemented well and don't feel like such a gimmick
I was all set to change my opinion on the game until I played the CSI sequence. It was like something out of Condemned.
The game/demo has an annoying habit of assuming you know exactly what to do, leading to situations with you just wandering around until you 'trigger' something.
Also, the bloom lighting is atrocious. Its such a blurry nightmare. I don't know why devs still think that 'bloom = realistic'
It could end up good though. The VA in the demo is much better than the stuff in those trailers

Casey is so overcome by Heavy Rain's excellence, that he's unable to come on back and give his opinion.

Re: Heavy Rain
Your PSNs suck, mine got downloaded in about 15-20 mins!
Heavy Rain is the fucking best thing ever.
I refuse to play the demo again, I'm so excited. Already I can see how different choices could affect the game, and how going back I could have chosen such a different route.
Sure, some will find it little more than an interactive movie, but the concept of holding a combination of buttons to say, squeeze through a small space, could prove challenging in later stages. Musically and atmospherically, there's definitely a lot of Fahrenheit here too.
I don't know what to say really. I know I shouldn't judge before playing a full game but anything by QD is an exception. I knew I was going to love it before I played the demo, and doing so has only reassured me that this has a very slim chance of being anything less than exceptional.
Can't wait to see audiences split by this, mind. "Wher tha fuxx the explodin barrels n shit?"
