University choice's?
Was wondering what Uni's anyone's going to/ at...
I have Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool down. Anyone have any opinion's on them? Well basically what's the best place to 'party' in.

Newcastle is a great great night out, the city is massive, though probably not as daunting as Manchester. Good student facilities, great union, its a really nice city.
Manchster is fucking huge! Great music venues, local music scene, very very busy, though you need good grades to go there.
Um, thats all i have.

I've got Strathclyde and Glasgow down too. Paisley is there also and I think that's the one I'm leaning towards.
Re: University choice's?
Wow, I only applied to Aberdeen. Didn't have the cash to leave.

Re: University choice's?
I haven't paid for mine yet, my school still sent it away though lol.
Edit: Read your post wrong there. That's why I'm leaning more towards Paisley atm, an hour on the train doesn't bother me as long as I have something to keep me entertained which I will and if I apply for a train ticket thingy, the cost won't be too high either.

Re: University choice's?
I'd seriously recommend no travelling if possible. It's a total bitch. If I need to get to the library to put a single item back, it's an hour and twenty minutes at least from my house to the campus and it's bugging as shit. I'm rapidly running out of podcasts to listen to and even the DS gets dull after a while. For going out it's shit as well unless there are night services on the trains or buses, and even then it's crap because you can't just stumble home at any time and crash.
I only live ten miles outside the city but the bus takes forty-five minutes to an hour to get in because it has so many stops. Then it's a half hour walk from the city centre.
It might be worth it for the money I'm saving, but if I don't get away to another country to study next year I'm moving in to halls.

Travel isnt the only thing, move into halls or else you'll miss half the experience. The number of pre-night out mario kart sessions, and post drinking toasties and raves is my favourite part of being a student.

Re: University choice's?
So next year I can go to another university to study abroad for a while. I've narrowed it down to Copenhagen and Stockholm, both are listed for Politics and IR and both have courses in English. I'd learn either language anyway, but I'd rather not have to muddle through complex, hour-long lectures with my poor, near-forgotten Spanish skills or in bloody German my first week away.
Presuming both will be OK for me to go to, I need some advice. I don't really care which uni is "better", because they're both ranked way higher than Aberdeen anyway. I just care about where I'm going. Right now I'm very close to choosing Stockholm, but I'd like some nudges from our resident Scandinavian. I know you're Swedish and will obviously have a bias Iain, but which city would you recommend?

Re: University choice's?
Well, of the two I've only been in Copenhagen so I'm not sure I can make a proper recommendation. But I personally find Sweden to be more interesting than Denmark. More interesting geography and people on the whole. And Scandianvian girls are hawt (read: Norwegian and Swedish ones). Language sounds cooler too.

IT'S SETTLED!
Not quite, but thanks for weighing in. Is the language reasonable enough to get a handle on within a few months?
I'm so excited about this. When my exams are finished next Tuesday (unless they go horribly and thus prevent me from going anywhere) I'm going to get all of this stuff sorted. All dat bureaucracy man.

Re: University choice's?
Hmm, well swedish is a lot like norwegian, which again is pretty similar to most other germanic languages. Think of it as a simplified version of german. Everyone speaks decent english though so who cares. Being exotic is all the rage.

Re: University choice's?
I spent this evening drinking Double vodka and cokes, which i thought everyone else was drinking but werent!, being sick otside a kebab shop, and sainsbury's and a sports shop and the union, and running back to the clubt o resuce a VERY hot girl! Then spooning with said hot girl and a slightly less attractive one, then watching as friends snorted MDMA from the High School Musical DVD case, then losing a shoe, then eating a terribe sandwich, and now im home!!
