Re: What cool stuff did everyone get for X-mas?
Main present was an iPod touch 8gb. It's pretty small in memory space. Does anybody know if there is any way to upgrade the size of the memory? Do Apple provide a service or anything?
Also got 150 euro, a cardigan, a polo shirt, a t shirt, a cage fighting DVD, The Lovely Bones book, a scarf, 2 amazing framed prints...

Re: What cool stuff did everyone get for X-mas?
A cunt going asking one of my best 'gal pals' out on Xmas day and her being easily manipulated enough to agree. Tut.
Other than that, few Blus, bitta dosh, clothes vouchers, few games, stuff like that. Oh, and lots of things being made legal by turning 18 too. That is a decent enough gift I suppose.

Nothing gaming-wise. Just clothes, smellies, DVDs etc.

In my usual style I didn't ask for anything except a cheap, useable MP3 player to replace the one I've ruined the capacitance on, so I got the default young man presents, smellies, chocolate, odd items of clothing.
Then my mother surprised me by totting up a list of birthdays and holidays and suchlike I haven't had money for and gave me a cheque for a grand, which has sorted my life out quite nicely for the next few months.

Re: What cool stuff did everyone get for X-mas?
Capacitance is the ability of an electrical unit to store a charge. All manufacturer's guides for Li-ion batteries, for example, say that after multiple charges and drains, the ability of the battery degrades and the amount the battery lasts lowers.
Basically, since I use my Mp3 player on a daily basis, it's drained and recharged constantly, slowly degrading the internal chemistry to the point a full charge barely lasts a trip the shops.
All electronic media and components have a lifespan. I watched an interesting documentary once hypothesising what would happen to the planet if all humans disappeared one day. Within several hundred years, all electronic storage media - hard drives, DVDs, etc - will eventually lose the data within and all the record of human history would be lost and reclaimed by nature.
I realise I've gone off on yet another tangent here, but everything has a shelf life. Many old gameboy cartridges now can't save because the internal battery can't hold a charge either. My Pokemon Gold doesn't remember the time.

Re: What cool stuff did everyone get for X-mas?
I just googled Baraka and the first thing I got was "The film is often compared to Koyaanisqatsi" which put me right off, as the latter film bored me like no other film has bored me before.

Pan's Labyrinth - A movie I still need to see on Blu-ray. One of my all-time favorite movies.

Re: What cool stuff did everyone get for X-mas?
It'd be too easy to undermine its achievements with that view though. Everyone jumped on it because it was an arty film the mass audience could get along with, but it's neither as good as they say nor as unexceptional as you'd claim. Probably still a four star film.

Re: What cool stuff did everyone get for X-mas?
I'm not sure its OVER-rated, i think the films is fantastic, difficult to find a specific fault dontcha think?
Probably rated fairly, film of its year no doubt.
