Try Ravager/Ravager, switching to Medic/Synergist when your health gets a bit low. Either role for Sazh will increase the Gestalt gauge.
You do have to be quick. Most people, myself included, only did it with seconds to spare.

Only trade them if you REALLY want it, I doubt you'll get past the first 5 hours if you're not dedicated to the game enough.

Anyway, in just under 30 hours, I've finally landed on Gran Pulse. The game has really opened up now and it's definitely getting better as it goes on.

I'll give it a go! been trying synergist / saboteur and commando / medic... Can't play it until mondays anyways, to much work on!

I got this game on Friday. Haven't had much time to play it yet though so I'm little over 2 hours in. I actually really like it so far. Yeah it's linear, but I kinda like that and how it is literally breaking down every section of the combat for me. I'm also enjoying having a good read of everything entered into the datablog or whatever. I'll take my time playing through it, but so far, I do like it a lot.

XII is awesome. I'm replaying it atm.

I'll pick this up with Mass Effect around XMas methinks. Neither game seems worth paying full price for.

I'm still playing it. There's five achievements left and I'm determined to make them mine.
I've already took out the hardest boss in the game, so it's not like I'm going to struggle.

That, and not having the money for new games means I can take all the time I want.

I've gotten up to the part where I need to insert disc 3. I put it in and the "now loading" pops up at the bottom of the screen but doesn't proceed to the menu. I've tried putting the disc 3 in without it asking but it just asks me to go back to disc 2 and complete the boss battle. I was enjoying the game up until this point but having to repeat the long boss battle over and over again has demotivated me a bit. I think I may have to re-install it onto my console. Has anyone else had this problem?

Apart from that a great game so far. I agree that the pre-paradigm shift hours of the game can become tedious but the gameplay does slowly open up. It is very linear though.

Versus looks nothing like an FF game to me, but that's one of the reasons I am interested.

FFXIII ranks as one of the worst games I have ever played. Granted, I didn't play past the 25 hour long tutorial.
Don't plan on ever doing so either.

Does anyone enjoy using the Sentinel, Saboteur and Synergist classes?

I find that they just slow the battles (the main chunk of the gameplay) down, making the whole game tedious and unenjoyable.

EDIT: Arrived at Gran Pulse in just under 24 hours.

Yeah, I switched off after I did a bit of exploring in Gran Pulse. It is becoming tedious but I'll likely boot it up again.

Is anyone else experiencing a terrible amout of lag and frame rate issues on disc 3? I have it installed onto my console and this may be the problem, but I thought that would have made the game run faster scratch

I got to gran pulse... the point where the game was supposed to "open up" and realized it was still very linear. Didn't bother playing it after that...

Having spent over 100 hours getting all 1000 gamerpoints...

... I can safely say it's a weak entry. It looked nice, it played nice, but the design and all the meat that makes an RPG great was lacking.
