Best Game this gen?

This, said in jest(???), made me think. What is the best game this gen?

Im hastening for Oblivion at the minute.

Mario Galaxy is by far the best game this gen though, seriously, it is. I personally would put Uncharted 2 after that, but I think SMG is the only current gen game that I will group among the classics from past generations in the future, kinda disappointing really.

Honourable mentions to Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Noby Noby Boy, Far Cry 2, Mirror's Edge, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Portal, Street Fighter IV.

I am prepared to take a beating over these choices, but in my opinion:

obviously im just an xbox owner and you can probably see my trend of games but off the top of me head thats it, i might change it at some point

oblivion had too poor voice, acting, terrible characters and a dull main story for best gen game, im not going to say fallout 3 either. im going to say modern warfare 2 could possibly be the game of this gen, but this generation is far from over and i still thnik the best game is yet to reveal itself.

Agreed on the Oblivion front.

Over 5 voice actors.

And yet, despite that flaw, so many people still regard it as the best game this gen. Shows how good everything else was, ay?

My problem is that all my favourite games this gen are pretty flawed. It's the overall experience that makes them incredible.

Some that spring to mind are Lost Oddysey, Metal Gear Solid 4, Oblivion and Mass Effect. Massively involving single player experiences that I could wish lasted a lot longer.

Honourable mentions go to Mirror's Edge, Call of Juarez duology, Assassin's Creed and quite a few other "B" games such as Hitman: Blood Money, Tom Raider: Legend, N3 and the Overlord duology.

Whoops I forgot to mention Dead Space. That would be pretty high in my list.

The only games to really impress me this generation are Oblivion and Gears of War 1.
Oblivion felt horribly tacky though. There were so many game-breaking glitches.
I'd like to see the Elder Scrolls series have more of an RPG emphasis next gen, like Morrowind

Gears just sort of did everything right I guess. I'm not even that big a fan, but I regard it as one of the best games of this gen

I'd also like to add GTA IV to my list of 'best games this gen'. Probably one of the most boring games I've played, but still one of the most accomplished titles in the past 4 years or so

Yeah but in spite of that its pretty good.
One of the few shooters I've played where I didn't feel as though it overstayed its welcome, unlike its sequel.

Yeah, it's fun to point out how generic Gears is now that every game has copied it since 2006 but it was a very entertaining game with new intuitive controls (it seems crazy to think that Killswitch is the only game I can recall having a proper cover system prior to Gears of War) and whilst not 'art' was fun, boasted the best graphics and was just an all round good game. It's a 9/10 for me and it's more influential than some might realise. I agree that it was a joy to play from start to finish too, more than I can say for either of the Uncharted games. Shame the mulitplayer got crap after the first patch. And let it be noted that I'm in no way a fan of the series either. I have no interest in GoW2. Well, actually, if I find it really dirt cheap I might get it.

I wasn't talking about the gameplay, but the universe it's set in. I enjoyed the game on the whole, but I disliked the characters, story and location.
