Which is best?
XBLA/PSN Store thread
I think the wide range of PSN and arcade releases are a format of games unto themselves and deserve their own thread.
I dunno about you guys but I think PSN is just superior. The quality and presentation of the store itself as well as the games make a big impression on me.
I just bought two games hence the idea for this thread.
1. Crystal Defenders:
I don't really like paying £8 for a game with 8bit graphics that could quite easily run on a SNES except for without the HD pause menu as well as having many many free flash counterparts on numerous gaming websites, but what can I say, I like everything to be on my PS3 and this is the official version not an internet knock-off and it looks like it'll eat plenty of hours of my time. The demo alone can last for an hour, I suggest giving it a try. May review when I've propery played this.
2. High Velocity Bowling:
£5 with tons and tons of free DLC such as additional trick shots and alleys with graphics you'd accept from a launch PS3 title with innotive use of the SixAxis controller I can see this becoming a lounge favourite in the household. You grip the PS3 controller kind of like a ball, twist your wrist to aim and then swing and pray you stay out the gutter. Simply splendid to play with a nice character to is with it cartoony inhabitants and ballroom jazz soundtrack. My only complaint is that the PS3 controller isn't shaped like a bowling ball. I can see myself getting addicted to this.

Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
I love PSN. The content on XBLA seems primative in comparison. The presentation is great too, however a decent search function wouldn't do any harm. What you say about the graphics is spot on too - many games, graphically and gameplay wise - seem more like fully-fledged titles than 'download only' releases. Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty, GT5: Prologue & Siren: Blood Curse are the primary examples I can think of as download/physical. Only thing PSN lacks in the UK is a video store.
Also, Super Stardust HD is pretty fun. Geometry Wars is better though, speaking of which, I've finally purchased the sequel. Impressions? It's a blast. The new game modes are decent; the majority anyway. Kings is decent, however Waves feels a little tacked-on.
What's this XBLA GoD thingy I'm hearing about by the way?

So... close.
Can't decide, they're both great. Like the layout of PSN better, but it gets less and less functional as more content goes up.

I liked the Crystal Defenders demo but it did just feel like a flash game to me. However I do love Flower, it really is a beautiful game.
Whil we're on the subject, anyone played Fat Princess yet?
I can't really comment on XBLA, since, I don't have Xbox Live...

Oh, and Casey, you forgot Wipeout HD from that list of good looking d/l only games.
Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
Wipeout HD is awesome. Pretty tempted to get the new Fury expansion.

Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
PSN took a while to really get going after launch but I much prefer it to XBLA now, especially now that most of the decent games seem to be making their way to PS3, like Braid and Castle Crashers. Of course it also has Wipeout HD so it wins by default.
I just bought Shatter on PSN actually, it's pretty great, been wanting a block breaker type game for a while.
gdf - You won't be disappointed if you buy Fury. Eliminator online is the most fun.

The lack of points cards really puts me off buying anything.

It's real money and works with my card, which really simplifies it.

I was meaning download/retail crossover, I sorta mashed my words up!
But yeah, looks awesome!

Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
PSN is really all about quality over quantity, more than can be said for XBLA. Flower, Linger in Shadows, Wipeout, Echochrome, Tekken 5 and the original Crash Bandicoot all make me happy.
XBLA has Banjo Kazooie and Tooie though, as well as the odd gem.
It's a tie.

Tie's I can handle but I can't see how anyone would choose XBLA over PSN Store. Those who did explain to me please so I can learn and better understand your viewpoint.
Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
I think I'm gonna go with PSN. FLower is currently my favourite game this year.

Is anyone going to buy Fat Princess?

Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
£12 does sound a little steep but it does look like an awesome game. I bet the multiplayer would be awesome.
Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
Trine is out now! Gonna get it later! £17 may be quite a bit but my EMA went through so I can afford it
Re: XBLA/PSN Store thread
Why has no-one mentiond Trails HD......It is the best Live game i have played, the first couple of levels are nice and easy then the dificulty ramps up to an horrid level...
But, and it is a big but.....this game actually has me TRYING to beat my friends scores!!!
Any game that can do that to me has got to be worth a looky.
