The Pacific
Now readily available on various torrents.
I imagine some of you shall be waiting for the full HD experience in April, but I cracked and watched it just.
Without giving away too much, if you liked Band of Brothers, there's no way in hell you won't like this. Seems Spielberg and Hanks have come up trumps again on the actor front; the bunch are just as likable as the last.

Re: The Pacific
I got a 720rip and literally finished watching it an hour ago.
I wasn't so sure about after the first 30 minutes, but its really good stuff so far. Looks great in HD too.

Re: The Pacific
Does it still follow real life stories from the Veterans?
I have to say that I noticed some cheesey shite from the trailers, and the reviews confirm there is some. I hope it doesn't have flash backs trying to pull on our heart strings as the break down in front of their family. Band of Brothers was terrific in not doing any of that shite.

Re: The Pacific
Shit, didn't see you up there Suede.
I think it does. I couldn't confirm exactly, but there are some war veterans talking at the start of the first ep at least.

Re: The Pacific
After two pretty boring episodes, no.5 was incredible.
6 will be too if the episode preview at the end is any indication.
What do the rest of you think of it so far?

Re: The Pacific
the last episode i watched on sky movies, the one where one of them gets that aussie girl was pretty naff, sex scene at least (bad one), doesnt sound like tommorows gets any better. When do all the big battles come back?

Re: The Pacific
I've really enjoyed the first 3 episodes so far, I'm just not liking the pacing very much. Band of Brothers was never really off the battlefield after the first episode, until nearing the end, but the with the Pacific, it's kinda shoving a love story down our throats in between episodes, so one episode it's really exhilarating with all the war and shiz, and then the next you're now watching a romantic war drama. I'm not like "gUns expLosisaoNs pEOPle bLowIng upz laul kewl", but I'm wanting to see the operations that went underway in the Pacific, not who they did in bed while on R&R.
The best bit so far I think was when the Japanese soldier gave up in the first episode.

Re: The Pacific
I love this, I loved Band of Brothers and I love this, although I don't think it's quite up to the quality of Band of Brothers.
I seem to feel that this series although still dramatised the way it is, is more set up for an historical mind like myself looking into the lives of a soldier and not just WOW BATTLES! EXPLOSION BOOM!
- Spoiler:
- I found episode 4 to actually be really hard hitting, as it shows you the real psychological problems that these soldiers were forced through.
