Betting on the Oscars - Page 2 Empty Re: Betting on the Oscars

I dont think either are particularly deserving, but with the Academy as it is... And actually, i adore the Hurt Locker. I know people dont, and Suede, people have actually said to me "it just didnt feel right", without knowing exactly what they meant. I just think for a film on such a small budget, filmed with ta crew from Jordan, with a small cast, and a genuinely briliant director, i really think it should win.

I guess you want a little golden man, you might have to suck it up and make something sellable! No

Its kinda sad that Up In The Air and A Single man are'nt really being properly thought about, i thoughtthey were both amazing, particularly ASM.

On a related note, Sandra Bullock won the Razzie for worst actress last night.

She turned up, with a DVD of the film for every audience member! Also gae a very funny acceptance speech. I like her alot, lots of charisma and i'd like to see her win tonight.

Stayed up all night watching.

Fuck The Hurt Locker you overrated piece of shit. If a man had directed no-one would have given a damn at the academy.

I thoguht HL was an outstanding piece of technical film-making and an edge of seat thriller without becoming cliche'. Great performances, stunning visuals. What have you got against it?

I still feel bad that A Serious Man, A Single Man and a few others were so badly overlooked though.

Hurt Locker and Moon both feature an actor from The Assisnation of Jesse James as the lead, both got rave reviews, both were disappointing.

I was hoping the Oscars would surprise me. I liked some of the results, but disagree strongly with Director, Lead Actress and best Picture.

I found the Hurt Locker to be desperately mediocre, lacking any kind of emotional pull, set-pieces that didn't raise my pulse and a meandering pace that stretched out the paper thin story for what felt like ages. Visually it's very much just another film jumping on the pseudo documentary band wagon. Give me The White Ribbon's beautifully composed shots any day!

And Iraq is the driest of subject matters discussed by todays filmmakers. (lol)

Up In The Air deserved more attention.

Also, Waltz With Bashir wasn't so great, the ending was pretty effective though.

AMEN!

What a rubbish flick... lacks alot of the sense of danger I've come to expect from big budget war movies and contained 3 characters who were such assholes I didn't care if they got blown to bits.... Gay
