Just completed Mirror's edge. The gameplays refreshing but god the rest of the game is poor. I cant remember a worst storyline.

Re: Now Playing...
Getting really into Oblivion finally! Took about 3 years but here we go!
Anyone who's played it, should I become a vampire? It sounds kinda cool, but I don't really like the idea of not being able to stay in sunlight...I'm mainly doing guild quests at the minute, and I'm about 2 hours into Shivering Isles...

Yeah, its a major hassle. Its cool to get it when you finished the main game, but a real hindrance at some points (Though helpful for thieves guild and the evil, ones)

Re: Now Playing...
Mirrors Edge sucked SO much balls.
Dull, cheesy, lifeless, linear, gimmicky
5 words I'd use to sum up the game

Re: Now Playing...
While I got nothing but frustration from Mirror's Edge's gameplay and story, I'd have to say the environment design was absolutely stunning.
They were exceptionally clinical with all the emotion sucked out of them, but I think that lent itself to the nature of the game's story pretty well. It's certainly pretty to look at it.

Also
I disagree, I think the plot of a game can really affect the overall mood of a piece and when shoddily done bring down the experience massively. If a game doesn't care to have an important plot, that's fine, but when I'm playing story mode, the story is a huge part of the experience. Quake works because it basically has no plot except a paragraph of text at the end of each of the 5 worlds, it decides to abandon plot in favour of gameplay, you just focus on getting from the start to the exit and have a blast doing so with the fast paced action holding your attention on its merit. Do you really not think cheesy cut scenes progressing an uninteresting storyline at the end of each level wouldn't bring the quality of your overall experience down?

Meh, it felt like a 2007 kinda game.
But yeah, that changes things somewhat.

Re: Now Playing...
Dead Space > Mirrors Edge. Loved the look / feel, hated that at points it completely killed itself by making it an action game when you couldn't really fight....
Just completed the force unleashed... URGH. To start with, the game feels very dated in terms of control style, combat feels very clunky and most boss fights can be won purely by "sitting on" the boss and confusing their poor AI.
Secondly, the action on screen is often too much for the xbox to handle... many times in the later levels I threw out some force lightening at a bunch of stormtroopers for the fps to drop to about 20 as barrels exploded and bullets fired.
Thirdly, the later part of the game / end level is completely underwhelming. They simply try to add time to the game by throwing waves of storm troopers at you with very frustrating results... Great. You've thrown the same waves of enemies you have at me all game. Swell. The end encounter with Vadar (and which ever boss you choose after him) is possibly the worst boss fight I've ever fought. They say never meet your heroes and this is why, because his AI will be terrible and he'll get caught in the poorly constructed levels...
and Finally, THE KEY SCENE OF THE GAME. The selling point of the teaser trailer, the pulling down of a star destroyer was possibly the most laborious and boring "boss battle" ive fought in a long while... Hell, give me a cut-scene or a real time action event (this game loves them...) if you're going to make me hold down the the analog sticks. I guess it would have been cool if JUST as I was thinking 'hahah i'm a bad ass' another wave of tie fighters comes and makes me repeat the entire process again from scratch almost... for a ship so large, star destroyers can correct their course pretty damned quickly.
In short, it's worth a rent if you like the story / want to play the next one (which I hope to God does an Assasin's Creed and turns good on its second outing), otherwise I'd give it a wide birth.
6.5 / 10
P.S. FUCK YOU LUCAS ART / MS for making the dlc 800 pointss A LEVEL.
