IGN's top twenty five consoles
They've opened a real fanboy can of worms, and obviously everyone's going to have their own order in mind, but this is fucking hilarious/ridiculous.
Let's just get our bearings here. I'm no idiot, I know it's subjective, but they placed it directly above PlayStation, Dreamcast and N64 and far above GameCube, Master System, Saturn, PS3 and TurboGrafx 16. Though those last few are arguably only slightly better or worse, it shouldn't be placed five or more above any of them. Above Dreamcast especially is fucking heresy. Just shows what a bunch of "space marines are awesome and Xbox Live rules" assholes we all knew IGN are.

Re: IGN's top twenty five consoles
360 is too high tbh. I couldn't name my top 5 but I think I would say the PS2 is first.
Re: IGN's top twenty five consoles
lol @ PS2 not being #1. I'd assume this list is a joke, but then it is IGN...

SNES is clearly #1.
PS2 #3 after PC.

Think this is bad, watch all the best characters get eliminated in the first round of this http://uk.gamespot.com/greatest-video-game-hero/standings/index.html

Pretty spot on tbh, only Xbox (original) in the place of DC.

Ryu over Abe is ridiculous.
Out of the final 8, I'm for Gordon Freeman.

Re: IGN's top twenty five consoles
I think I'd have to remain true to myself and put Mario 1st, and Duke Nukem 2nd. Personal choice, of course.

Re: IGN's top twenty five consoles
I wanted Snake to come out on top so I'm not too fussed who wins now.
Re: IGN's top twenty five consoles
God I'm not sure I could do a top 5...
1. PS2 - (I'm saying this because I can play PS1 games ON it... all in all, the amount of amazing games (namely RPGs) between the two consoles makes it a definit No.1 despite my love of the...
2. SNES - So.Much. Love. For this console. So many great games, back in the days when story had to push the game instead of graphics. I loved it then, I love it now.
3. X360 - While the console itself has proven unreliable, Microsoft is still trying to push the hardware in interesting ways (yes, I'm talking Natal) but has also been home to many of the best games of this generation.
4. PS3 - I really want this console to be higher but unfortunately can't find it in my heart to do it. The interface is great and easy to navigate, the aesthetics of the console itself looks amazing, The controller is nice (when the triggers are added...) and the blu-ray player is a God-send. However, the lack of jawdropping exclusive games (Little Big Planet failed to keep me captivated as long as I'd hoped, Killzone 2 was mediocre at best...) is the only thing that stops it being essential in my eyes.
5. DS - In all its incarnations, the amount of fun this console has given me cannot be measured. I've tapped, scratched and prodded the shit out of the touch screen and burned out my retina on the display. It has a solid back catalog and shows no signs of going anywhere. Sure, it doesn't have the media capabilities of the PSP (well, at least the origina silver brick I have doesn't) but it makes up for it in the wonder it brings forth in functionality and fun.
