Mafia II Wall_211

Developer: 2K Czeck
Publisher: 2K Games
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, OnLive
Release Date: 27th August 2010

Anyone else getting this? I really enjoyed the first one, probably the best game based around the Mafia; had a great story from what I remember... had great everything, to be honest (Xbox version was glitchy as buggery though - console versions were terrible in comparison from what I read, should really get it on PC - Steam!). Also had loads of references to the classic gangster films, pretty much based itself off Goodfellas.

I'm still quite surprised there's a sequel - the ending of the first game (from what I remember) wrapped everything up, and it's been 8 years since then. I guess I'll have to give it another playthrough to refresh my memory before the 27th roles around.

Hoping it will be a sleeper.

Never was fussed about Mafia when it came out but Mafia 2 looks like the shit and I watched someone streaming the PC version of Mafia and it looked pretty sweet. Wish I could just buy it without having to pre-order Mafia II which my current compooter cant run.

Read Sean's post again. Tongue out

Mafia was much more that a GTA3 clone. GTA3 has aged horribly.

Mafia was already aged when it came out on the PS2... the driving was horrible :/

Yeah, the driving was pretty crap, but it was set in the 1930s. At least they went with realism.

Going to re-buy it on Steam when it's released; if I liked it when I was playing an extremely cut-down piece of shit console version, then I'm sure I will love it on the behemoth that is the PC.

It's not bad, the graphics could be a little more polished, bit jaggy and isn't very smooth, the car handling isn't so great either, but I think the demo is pretty old now. (Xbox 360 version)

I'm loving the music, and the characters seem good once again (if cliched). The gunfights have quite a punch to them, does feel like your under fire.

We'll see.

Just played it. Visually, it's adequate. I don't really have any major qualms. Looks better than GTAIV anyway.
The lip syncing isn't so good though, which leaves the cutscenes feeling a bit cheap.

Voice acting is alright. It will be interesting to see if the characters have any personality outside of their Italian greaseball archetype.

The driving controls are fine. I appreciate that the developers chose to make these cars handle a little awkwardly.

The music is good. I hope the radio programs don't go overboard with the hackneyed satire though.

The gunplay is run of the mill stuff, but that doesn't bother me much. Plays better than GTA.

The framerate is all over the place in the PS3 version. I hope that gets sorted out. It's the only real thing stopping me from enjoying the demo.
Other than that it's aight.

Oh, and the soft porn is a nice touch.

Uninspired gamplay, realistic (read: annoying) 60s handling, seems to take itself seriously yet they're stealing the silly radio hosts bit from GTA.

Ohoho, eets funny because he's talking in wonderment about technology that already exists today, ohoho.

So far, so average.

I cancelled my pre-order.

The demo may be an early build, but the reviews so far aren't helping me give it a benifit of a doubt.

Downloading the demo but not expecting much. Dragon Age makes things download very slow and that's all I'm playing atm so it's gonna take a while lol.
