Yet, there's been five times as much discussion than there has during the past month over at X360!

Generic discussion question 1: Any plans for the weekend guys?

Who fancies going into Manchester some time? LankySi, Loud and Ashley proved that forum meet ups can work, so let's get to it!

Much too difficult for me to get there, 2 train changes means it would take me a while to get up there. Much prefer somewhere like Birmingham, central to everyone's rail networks.

I don't know how Paul is about meeting up with others, but we'll be at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival on the 13th and 14th of August. If anyone's in the 'hood, then drop by the Corn Exchange and play some games for free.

Re: Chat thread

Post by gdf on Sat Jul 18, 2009 1:18 pm

So my granda's getting home today, abcess drained and in good spirits. The only reason he's alive is that some numpty was driving too fast and ended up in theatre very late on (around 1-2AM on Saturday morning) preventing the auld boy from going in that day. We found out yesterday evening that they were going to use a general anesthetic were he taken in at that time and chances are that would have finished him off. It was only because a different anesthetist had a look the next day before he went in and decided that more moderate sedatives with a local anesthetic on the affected area would be sufficient and anything further would be extremely dangerous.

The doctors were surprisingly caviler about giving him the general, so good job that fellow crashed his car. They didn't open him up, but were they to do so they'd have to give him the stronger sedative, and we'll find out if he should do that at a later date when they've done scans etc.

So, looks like he dodged that bullet.

Jesus dude. I'm really glad your Grandpa came through on that one. Your story reminded me of one my friend recently told me which was equally precarious and sorted out by a ridiculously trivial coincidence, except that it didn't end so happily Sad

Its funny how life works in those matters. My Granda also had an operation due at one stage, we thought it was going to be too late. But a few poor people 'Kicked the bucket' (not to sound insensitive) and he managed to get surgery 3 weeks before his original one.

But that is good news Fras.

Riding on the misfortune of others, ahhh.

Thanks guys, I'm just happy he's still breathing. He's always in a lot of pain thanks to his shot-to-bits bowel, his creaky and excruciating twenty-year-old replacement hip that would be too risky to swap again and his amputated leg. Not to mention his occasional confusion and plethora of more minor health issues. The drugs they gave him there seemed to relieve a lot of the pain in other parts of his body as well, so he's been in an unusually (even for him) great mood!

Good to hear dude, its also to hear that he's drugged up to the eyeballs. I find it puts the majority of people in a pretty peppy mood Smile

Excellent news.

Not a lot of chat going on in this thread. I hate it when you're watching TV shows online and it loads so sloooooooooooooooooooow. You end up watching an hour long episode in 5 minute segments where you wait a bit and then watch it until it starts buffering again. It's bullshit man. What cand of world are we living in where you have to wait to watch shows illegally?
