I'm surprised with how much this game tested my patience. I was disappointed with the linearity of X as well, but I still managed to slog through that one.

Maybe it's the unrelenting melodrama. The 12 hours I played of XIII reminded me of the second half of X.
Or maybe it's the fact that in the countless hours of FMV, the plot didn't progress whatsoever.

Playing IX atm. Much better game. Shitty slow combat system though.

You have earned my respect sir. That must have been like water torture.
Not really. RPGs are probably the only genre of game where I can easily lose more than 100 hours to without even noticing.
I'm probably never going to play it again, which is probably what prompted me to get all the achievements so then I'd feel a sense of completion - I've effectively seen, done, beaten and owned everything the game has to offer. It's not often I take all a game has to offer, even if it doesn't go down in history as the best thing since Pizza.

Even X has a bunch of fun distractions from the main story to break up the linearity. XIII is just lazy garbage, especially coming after XII which was fucking huge.

In the 30th or so hour.

The world has opened up a bit, but it feels almost alien after spending a good 25 hours before hand going down A to B paths. The Cie'th "missions" are lazy and uninventive so far, (completed about 6) merely making you walk for 5 minutes until you have to take part in a mini-boss battle. With a lack of puzzles and side quests to break up the game, I'm even getting tired of the battle system, one feature I am glad they introduced. I doubt I will be spending any more time on this.

I started playing this again. Last thing I did was fight a robot pope.

This game is very, very silly. It's like a cartoon.

It's crazy slow though. The ATB crawls, even on the fastest setting.

It's true. I've often wondered if the game seems faster in NTSC mode like FFVII does (On PAL I can do all of Tifa's limit breaks fine, but play in NTSC and I miss like crazy, despite the speed difference only being 16%) but it does affect its replayability for me.

RPGs these days move so incredibly fast.

I've only ever played the NTSC version. I'd hate to imagine how slow it is in the PAL version
