The Playstations 3 Problem Empty The Playstations 3 Problem

Post by DanglyBrasco Sun Feb 28, 2010 2:34 pm

Okay, so just spent a weekend at home looking after my little Bro. It consisted of Pizza, cider, and playing his Playstation 3, which i've had some time with in the pat, but nothing like this weekend. Heavy Rain. Uncharted 2 Online. Motorstorm. LBP Drunk, laughing at the silly faces. Dark Knight and Star Trek Blu Rays.

So the question.

I got an Elite for Christmas. I have and LOVE Mass Effect, and like, the huge variety of games available. But. I really really really want a playstation 3. The store is amazing. Home is kinda cool. Blu Ray is hugely important. What i really need is you guys to give me reasons not to sell my 360 and pick one up on monday.

And while LIVE is important, i am a student, and cost is very important, and it seems that the PS3 out of the box is cheaper (not as many add ons required). And if someone mentions the Natal as a must have game of the year, im going to send you a very nasty email.

Ps3 has Last Guardian in the pipeline. That's gonna be awesome. And I can't live without blu-ray. God of War 3 will no doubt be good for those who like the series.

360 has Alan Wake going for it. Is Splinter Cell exclusive now? Both are Red Dead anyway.

PS3 online isn't quite up to Live standards imo, and the UI is a bit more cumbersome. And you won't be able to play Mass Effect 2 and export your files when ME3 swoops down on us like a God.

How about staying of the bottle for a few weeks, then you can have both!

I'm looking at picking up a PS3 too, when I claim back the €900+ I'm owed in emergency tax. I wouldn't trade my 360 in for one though. The PS3 has Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Metal Gear, LittleBigPlanet...It seems to me to be lacking in great multiplayer exclusives like Gears or Halo. The Mass Effect series is worth keeping your 360 for, especially if you played the first and second one with an imported character, it'd be a shame to lose that.

I also (personally) prefer the shape and feel of the 360's controller. And LIVE hosts an apparent 'better community' and overall better features. Not speaking from personal experience there, just what I've gathered.

I see why you'd want a PS3. I'm in the same boat. But I'd have to agree with Kaviar. Stay off the gargle and own both! You'd miss your 360!

I own both and I tend to play on my PS3 more. Love my Xbox too though, Mass Effect is great. However, Heavy Rain is probably my favourite game this generation so far so yeah.

360 is better for online and multiplatform titles, plus the superior controller. PS3 has Blu-ray, more interesting exclusives and is more reliable and nicer to use in general. The stores are roughly equal, but I like that PSN lets me use my debit card.

It's a tough call. Depends how much you like shooters, basically.

Pretty much as soon as I got my PS3 I stopped playing Xbox 360 altogether. It stayed untouched for months at a time making a brief reappearance for Fallout 3 (PS3 version was buggy and graphically inferior apparently). PS3 has the best exclusives for me as well as being more robust and useful as a machine not to mention well designed. It also seems like a more mature console than the 360 for some reason.
