I wish I could see the look on their faces when they realise that there's no such thing as the afterlife and all they've succeeded in doing is wasting their life.

not much of an outlook, for me, i just dont beleive in an all powerfull creator of all, im not convinced there is an afterlife, but im not convinced there isnt one either. i like to stay open minded. i dont really think people can say there is or isnt an afterlife, no-one has any solid proof on the matter. so ill just say, yeah ill find out when i die. silent

What else could possibly happen? I mean, what was it like before you existed? You didn't know because your brain wasn't on the go, and the same happens when you die. I liked what some of the graves in Ancient Rome said: "I was not. I am not. I care not."

[I've got a spanking new theory that the great monotheistic triple threat are actually all less plausible than Harry Potter, but I'll save that for another time.]

im just not convinced either way, personally i would like their to be an afterlife, because who seriously wouldnt? (apart from the guys going to hell, but oh well). but untill solid proof is placed before me ill stay neutral.

But surely science and naturalism entirely rule out the supernatural? I mean, if it's as we say, there can never be solid proof, and when you're dead, you won't know because you're dead lol

Fair enough, you're just having a wee private mystery. I definitely respect you for not picking a religion to lean on!

I wish there was an afterlife too cat

Has anyone else noticed that the amount of theological, political and various other kinds of debates has massively risen sine The Interhood started?

Im starting to feel intelligent simply for belonging to such a forum.

When I'm let loose on these topics I can't fucking help myself. I love a good argument and rant, and my "I'm always right and fuck all religious and centre, centre-right and right wing cunts" attitude is always boiling away in the background.

i think its good to have such a background. and yeah i think so dangly, problem with x360 as a public forum someone will get offended and moan, but with a small group where we all know each other, its an easier thing to discuss.

I'd take eternal nothingness as worm food over eternal bliss/damnation any day

Just thinking of everlasting life makes my head hurt.

Lol, it would be painfully ironic if the whole point of this life was to kill ourselves for the next. lol

Being open minded is the willingness to accept new beliefs and change your point of view based on credible facts and empirical proof. It's not simply believing in something that that makes no logical sense or scientific sense simply to make you look more accepting to different ideas. That in itself is more closed minded, as you're willing to believe in something without credible evidence or genuine reasons for its existence.

The whole idea of an afterlife is sheer arrogance really. The very notion that life is nothing more than a tutorial level and irrespective of how we conduct ourselves we're getting something better at the end of it makes no sense whatsoever.

Afterlife is basically fairy tales spun by people who've realised the utter absurdity and inconsequential nature of life and are too scared to die knowing it all means nothing.
Nobody really likes the idea that we have an absolute end.

Re: Giving blood

Post by JokerJamie on Thu Sep 10, 2009 1:22 pm

I want to believe so badly, but I just don't see how its possible. I'd give anything to have confirmation that there is something better after this, but it won't happen. I just hate the idea of being put six feet under and spending the rest of eternity in blackness.

But then again some things get me thinking...

'Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see,and hear. Since the inital publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear...is less than one millionth of reality.'

Stuff like that gets my brain screaming. What are we missing?
