Work discussion

Post by Seany C on Tue Jul 14, 2009 6:51 pm

Now I'm finally a member of the working world I'd like to discuss work. What do y'all do? I'm enjoying my second day as a researcher for my dads investment bank and I can now appreciate the feeling of doing a days work. I don't count my month on a shop floor in Bluewater. God that was rubbish. Looking forwards to the pay check. Smile

Edit: Also if this place gets enough attention I'll buy us a proper forum to use with my earnings.

Part-Time at the local shop. 7.45 to 5.30 tomorrow, cannot wait. The joy it brings me. I suppose that counts.

A job's a job. Better than sitting around with your thumb up yer arse.
I don't mean any offence by my shop floor comment, I just hated it.

I'm pretty sure you all know what I do by now. I bake things between 8.00am to 1.00pm with the family and then I get paid.

I work about 30 hours a week and get paid about £500-£600 a month. Considering it's a family business - Minimum Wage doesn't apply, so I could get paid £20 an hour if my dad felt like it. Which I'm pretty sure he will never do.

I'll be getting a pay rise this October, though. Smile

I'm still working at the same old newspaper. My working hours vary from 09.00-15.00 to 08.00 to 15.30. The work is good, I get to just sit in front of a PC screen browsing the net most of the time, apart from when I answer phone calls from clients etc. Working there until I go off in august.

I work at the local Out of School Club and have done for the past two years. Pay is a little under a fiver an hour, but it's awesome, and I'm getting loads of hours now because it's the school holidays. Apart from doing dishes, sweeping up etc., most of the time is spent chilling with my workmates and the kids - who are often hilarious. Great job, really.

If I'm going to plug I might as well do so here; I also "work" voluntarily for a couple of fairly respected (one is recognised by GR/Metacritic and the other is pally with the Rock, Paper, Shotgun lads) games sites. It's worth a mention because right now I'm trying to get some paid freelancing, though I'm sure I could put in a bit more effort and get stuff published.

I have 2 jobs technically.

1) Working in a kitchen for about £5 an hour for about 4-5 hours a shift, not bad, on an average week I get about £50 a week, oh and a free meal after every shift

2) When the rugby season begins I sell programmes for Northampton Saints, £15.50 and free entry into the ground to watch the game

Starting at a place called treeway in 2 weeks time, 2 days a week, involves making fence panels.

There's no real reason for a censor. People can to act however they want, they just have to realize that there will be repurcussions if they behave like animals as opposed to refined gentlemen.

Currently situated at work, and there's been almost no call today. I'm the only one in the office now for the next 3 weeks, all of which are destined to be quiet. I hope the forum stays alive. Will be a bit boring if not.

Haha, I am still supposed to work, and the journos stop by now and then and I doubt they'd appreciate me gaming on this ancient piece of junk! I'll no doubt be reading loads this summer.

Nothing like being payed £12 an hour to do whatever one likes! :danofwar:
