Tyson. Been meaning to purchase it on Blu Ray. Would also lend itself very well to discussion.

Or A Band Aparte? Its a french new wave flick fromthe 60's, directed by Godard. Its really quite fantastic, and the incredibly stylish dance sequence come from nowhere!
But, in actuality, im happy with any film from here so far.

How about Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky?
It should be cool for us gamers, seeing as the game Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl is loosely based on the film and the film is revered as a russian classic in its own right.

You don't have to be into boxing to like it. Tyson is an incredible character to analyse and his life is a pretty fascinating story. The rise of a young hood who has the world in his hands at 21 and how said world ultimately chewed his young, arrogant, angry and ignorant self and spat him back out a broken man who luckily managed to reform to the best extent he could. It also received rave reviews. Don't avoid it as someone disinterested in boxing, pursue it as an open-minded lover of film. I'll be prepared to watch whatever film is voted as best because love or hate, I'll be able to discuss it, I might even find something I like when I wasn't expecting it.
Anyhow, here's the trailer:

Re: Film club nominations for 25th Sept
Let me reiterate: yes.
EDIT: Would just like to say, I missed District 9 as, dates being what they are, The Final Destination was preferred. From now on though, I hope to see all of the film club films and maybe learn to be a bit more of a discerning viewer.

It appears Stalker and Tyson are firm favourites at the moment. I also remember sean wanted to nominate Digby The Biggest Dog In The World. So, you know... choice.

If Stalker loses, I hope it's resubmitted next time as that's my second choice.

Cant we do both? Tyson one week, Stalker Next, then The Tin Drum, just work our way through?

Re: Film club nominations for 25th Sept
tell you what, instead of voting each week, we'll make a list. that would require me to do less. i really want to watch stalker, and tyson is my second choice, so the list for round one goes
1. Stalker
2. Tyson
keep nominating in this thread, show your support for others and we'll make a ten film list. get going, champions.
lots of love,
Film Commodore

Re: Film club nominations for 25th Sept
Is that your nomination for the film order or are you just dictating to us how it's gonna go down?

Re: Film club nominations for 25th Sept
Wouldn't it be easier to make a poll featuring those two as they are clearly the two most popular right now?
